Motor Graders (a.k.a. Blades, Road Graders, Graders, Maintainers), are wheeled machines with a moldboard (blade) located in the center of the machine. The moldboard is adjustable to enable an operator to control height, angle, pitch and tilt. A combination of actions create a smooth, flat surface for new and existing roads. By using the blade in an angled or tilted mode, an operator can complete ditching, snow removal and grade work. The Motor Grader is used for the construction of base roads, rough and final grading, and other activities that require control over the placement of terrain. Larger Motor Graders are used in mining to maintain haul roads and are essential tools for aiding increased production.
