This training material was created specifically to accompany the Cat® Large Track Type Tractor (aka Large Mining Dozer) Simulator system and focuses on the safe, effective operation of the Large Dozer in a virtual mining environment while applying correct operational techniques. The material trains the operator how to perform several different Dozer applications including tramming, ripping, slot dozing, dozing over a highwall, building a safety berm and slope maintenance. The blended learning experience of real-world application training in the classroom as well as the hands-on training with OEM controls ensures a seamless transition from the simulator to the field.

Large Track Type Tractors move on continuous twin tracks instead of wheels and have a large, steel blade at the front of the Dozer for moving earth. The tracks give the machine excellent ground hold and mobility when moving over a mine site’s rough terrain. Dozers are designed to push heavy objects and remove any obstacles stuck in the ground. A claw-like tool attachment, called a ripper, can be added to the rear of the Dozer to loosen rock or other compact material.
